New Laws for
California Employers of five (5) or more employees
Effective January 1, 2020, California Employers of five (5) or more employees, including employees who work outside California and/or seasonal workers, received a one-year extension through January 1, 2021 to complete required sexual harassment prevention training for ALL employees.
Supervisors are required to undergo two hours of training and all other employees are required to undergo one hour of training every two years and within six months of being hired to a new position. The sexual harassment training must include a section on abusive conduct in the workplace which is a new add-on in California.
The training can be in person, interactive online or through the Department of Fair Employment and Housing who has been ordered to provide free online training to meet the requirements.
Training Requirements in 2020
Employers with 50 or more employees have been providing sexual harassment training for supervisors for many years. They have also recently been required to provide the one-hour training for regular employees and to be in compliance must have completed training by December 31, 2019
If you require further information regarding the training requirements, the deadlines and obligations please contact Attorney Liat Cohen at 818.579.9996.
